During Care Home Open Week 28th June-4th July, the social care sector has been encouraged to connect with people in the community.
Care homes are wonderful family communities where carers and those they support and care for form special relationships based on trust, mutual respect, compassion and empathy. During this week I want to share with you what that translates to.
Connecting with people outside of the care home, raising awareness, and putting out there the true face of the care sector is Canal Vue Care Home in Ilkeston. Just watch this amazing footage from BBC East Midlands as they put the spotlight on 106 year old veteran Donald from completing his bucket list.
This isn’t just the true face of social care, it’s also the true face of PR, it’s about connecting and sharing a story to generate more understanding and awareness.
Watch the video at BBC East Midlands of Donald completing his bucket list with the help of those that care and support him at Canal Vue Care Home.
Being a carer isn’t just a job! Celebrate social care and show you are proud.
