Seeing your name in newspaper headlines, isn’t that a powerful message?
What could be better than seeing your positive care home news featured in your local newspaper?
The exposure would be priceless, but most importantly it would provide you with a chance to showcase everything that is good about social care.
Take your opportunity to fly the flag for care homes and demonstrate they are places of great compassion and care where many bonds and friendships are formed.
To get you started we’ve outlined a few guiding principles to help you create your own successful newspaper story.
Below is a 3 step plan to help you create a good story – give it a go!
Do you have something topical to talk about and share?
Maybe it’s a fundraising effort to help Ukraine. Are your knitting nana’s making sunflowers to sell? A care home we work for is, and we are already writing the story.
A business journalist on your hard-hittings regional newspaper is unlikely to want your story. Care home news always does best in community pages. Make sure you send your stories to community journalists, people with a real connection to local news and local people.
Ask yourself, what would you like to read?
Does your story engage its reader? Is it funny, quirky, does it pull on the heart strings ? A story with these elements will always have a better chance of receiving interest.
Remember. The secret to making a great story isn’t the quantity of information, it’s the quality of information and a really good photograph.
