What could be better than sharing a very festive story during the month of December.
Care Home Activities Coordinator Makes Christmas Wishes Happen
Care Home Activities Coordinator Trayce Archer-Pullen makes Christmas happen for Melbourne House Care Home in Aspley.
When Trayce casually had a conversation with Gill Dickenson, retired art school teacher and volunteer at Melbourne House Care Home, she learnt of The Sherwood Group generosity donating art materials to schools and businesses in the region.
With nothing to lose, Trayce contacted the company in the hope she could also benefit from donations to aid with her care home art and craft sessions.
Trayce Archer-Pullen, Activities Coordinator at Melbourne House Care Home says: “On my first visit to The Sherwood Group I was directed to a hug palette of sheets of card and simply told to help myself! This was like heaven for me I couldn’t wait!”
Whilst picking through the materials on offer Trayce leant of the company’s Christmas Card project. Inspired to learn more Trayce and Gill came up with the idea of engaging those living with dementia at Melbourne House in designing their own Christmas cards, with the help from the print company.
Trayce says “We never looked back. The idea was immediately picked up by their Marketing Manager Anna Fawcett and the rest as they say is history. Taking selected artwork created by individuals living with dementia, The Sherwood Group have fashioned the artwork into the ideal Christmas card scenes ready for us to sell in the hope of raising money for our Residents’ Fund.”
“To have the kind and generous help of the Sherwood Group is amazing. I feel like they really are our guardian angels supporting us to offer something really bespoke for family and friends to benefit from. Hopefully the professional touch will ensure they sell well.”
